Kaolin Fire is a conglomeration of ideas, side projects, and experiments. He's a sick puppy who apparently likes to do jsps and c in his spare time, and Really enjoys talking in the third person. He runs freebsd and uses vi to write his code/webpages. Imaginaries has been his baby since :gasp: 1998. Favorite Novel:

Generally whatever most recently blew me away. Specifically, hard to say. I like different things for different reasons--it took me until I was 19 to figure out what my favorite color was. And colors don't change--books are constantly being produced. That said, I should try to keep track of some of them as they occur to me: _The Sparrow_ -- loving detail to human and alien interactions; elegant yet driving language. _The Time Traveler's Wife_ -- Taking the trope and twisting it about until it was pure love; literate writing, wonderful prose and dialogue, interesting times, ... _Grimus_ -- the guts he had to pull off that ending. And of course, beautiful language, wonderful concept, fully told. Yeah, this is why I don't write reviews. "I, uh, liked it. It was pretty. And intelligent." What about it? "Uh, it."

Tends to be the person who wrote my most-recent favorite novel, unless a short story from F&SF blew that out of the water.

Why I write:

To be cooler than everyone else, including other folks that write. To see what happens. To publish and make money and be famous.

My goals as an Author:

memorable, timeless novels that make it in the cult arena and the public school system, and inspire a new reign of cheap knockoffs.
